How’s October treating you so far? With a new month comes all sorts of fun, new things to do. From cultural festivals to train rides, pumpkin patches and scary corn fields, we have a little bit of everything for you. Here are 12 of the best things to do in and around Seattle this weekend.
Tacoma Greek Festival
The Tacoma Greek Festival will have an assortment of traditional handmade Greek pastries at the Coffee Shop and Bakery. There will also be food booths with “Gyros, Calamari, Greek Fries, Souvlaki (sausage), and Loukomathes.” There will be Spanakopita, tiropita, and dolmathes served on all three days, and even dinner entrees.

Ride the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad
Steam is back for a limited time only. Visitors can make online reservations to ride on a 1 hour and 15-minute, 12-mile journey on a historic train. You’ll get to experience the thrill of a real steam locomotive, as the train is driven from Elbe to Mineral by 100 year-old steam engine, Polson 70.

Seattle Water Lantern Festival
The Water Lantern Festival takes place on Saturday, October 7th, and invites Seattleites to come together to “create a peaceful, memorable experience.” You’ll get to watch as the lake lights up with hundreds of beautiful lanterns.

Head to the pumpkin patch
Looking to get in the fall mood? What’s a better way than by heading to the pumpkin patch? There are tons of great pumpkin patches near Seattle and this weekend is one of the first weekends where you can indulge in the fall past time.
Scared to Death: The Thrill of Horror Film
MoPOP‘s Scared to Death: The Thrill of Horror Film is a permanent exhibition and is included in your ticket each time you visit. That means there’s no need to pay extra to see more than 50 props and costumes from your film and television horror favorites.

SIFF DocFest
If you’re looking to see a new movie this weekend you can check out SIFF DocFest. As the name suggests, this festival is about all films documentary. Watch something new and get out of the house!

Leavenworth Oktoberfest 2023
Fall is here and that means its time to celebrate! The annual Leavenworth Oktoberfest is the perfect way to do just that. Even better, the iconic fall celebration is officially returning to Washington’s own Bavarian inspired town starting this weekend.

Peter Gabriel: i/o – The Tour
Peter Gabriel needs no introduction and he’s coming to Seattle’s very own Climate Pledge Arena. Even better there are still tickets available and they aren’t at resale prices.

Seattle Kraken Training Camp
Fans are invited to watch the team during on-ice training sessions at Kraken Community Iceplex, the team’s training facility at Northgate. Not only can you watch the players prepare for the season, but you can also check out the Iceplex and all that it has to offer.
