ACCURACY OF INFORMATION & CORRECTIONS
As a Canadian digital publisher, accuracy is a fundamental requirement of our content and a responsibility of each member of our Editorial Team. Curiocity’s Editorial Team works diligently to verify sources and facts on every story to the best of its ability. While the nature of digital publishing requires moving quickly on developing stories, Curiocity strives to ensure that content across all channels reflects accurate information along with original sources. Curiocity’s Editorial Team is encouraged to use multiple online sources and direct references when composing original content, as a form of fact-checking.
When necessary, Curiocity’s Editorial Team makes corrections and updates on articles as promptly as possible, which are noted at the top of articles by Editor’s notes or updated dates and times. Corporate contact details are provided on our website in which errors may be reported.
Not all of Curiocity’s articles or content is continuously updated, which is clearly stated on our website. Content from previous months and years should be double-checked by audiences before they engage with the subjects of said content.
ATTRIBUTION & PLAGIARISM
It is corporate policy that no content taken from other sites are copied or plagiarized in any way. All material that we derive information from should come directly from the original sources, be written in an entirely unique manner that is authentic to our established brand voice, and with appropriate credit given to the source(s) as required. Plagiarism accusations will be immediately investigated. Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal.
OBJECTIVITY
Curiocity is a digital publisher and not a traditional news site. As such, our content is editorial in nature and does not require specific labelling between news and opinion pieces. Curiocity’s Editorial Department aims to deliver factual content void of subjectivity. As a digital lifestyle publisher with a unique connection to the communities we operate in, local bias does find its way into content by way of editorial recommendations, guides, semi-formal rankings, and community celebrations. Our content takes a positive or neutral stance on all topics and does not report on anything from a negative perspective.
BRANDED CONTENT TRANSPARENCY
All paid-for branded content and affiliate content on Curiocity’s websites and social media channels are clearly labelled and disclosed to the audience as ‘sponsored’ articles or ‘paid partnership’ posts. Branded content and content which contains affiliate links is created by an internal team, separate from Curiocity’s Editorial Team.
Branded content and affiliate partners do not have an effect on the editorial content shared on Curiocity’s website, social channels, or any other form of communication.
DIVERSITY, EQUALITY & INCLUSION
Curiocity strives, as both an employer and a publisher, to represent and respect people of all backgrounds, sexes, genders, ages, sexuality, races, and classes. Our Editorial Department works to ensure visual and viewpoint representation remains objective and of equal opportunity across all content.
Maintaining and promoting an inclusive workplace and community of audiences is our number one priority. Any individual or organization professionally affiliated with Curiocity is expected to treat their co-workers, our employees, our clients, and our audience with the utmost respect, professionalism, and kindness in all interactions.
