Have you ever wanted to watch Green Lake come to life with thousands of paper lanterns? Well you’re in luck because you’ll have not one, but two chances to see just that this fall. The first being Luminata and the second being the Water Lantern Festival.
The Water Lantern Festival takes place on Saturday, October 7th and invites Seattleites to come together to “create a peaceful, memorable experience.”

Your admission to the festival includes the following:
- “Wristband for entry into the festival area with access to food trucks
- Floating lantern kit
- LED candle
- Commemorative drawstring bag
- Marker
- Playing Cards
- Conversation Cards
- Lantern retrieval and water clean up”
It’s worth noting that the admission price also covers the cost of cleaning up and removing the lanterns from the lake following the event.
If you’d like to purchase tickets you can score early bird pricing until Wednesday, September 13th. After the 13th, prices will steadily increase until the day of when tickets will be at the highest cost.
