There’s no place like home, but to the actors, singers and comedians who visit – there’s no place like Wild Rose Country. Here are just a few times that a major celebrity has given Alberta a shoutout or shown the province some love.

On an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Combs gushed about a trip he took to Alberta with his wife Nicole in which they drove from Calgary to Banff.

“It is the sickest drive, like 20 minutes out of Calgary, it turns into the most Rocky Mountain thing you’ve ever seen,” he said adding that he’d never seen anything like it.

Andrew Garfield

During an interview about the Alberta-shot show Under the Banner of Heaven, The Amazing Spiderman, himself, raved about the province.

“Dude I loved it, I genuinely really loved Calgary and I love Alberta,” He said. “I love the people, I loved the restaurants, I loved the food – the nature,” adding that he even took a ‘crazy cold’ dip in Lake Louise.

“I was like, why is no one else doing this… and then I jumped in and I was like – oh, now I understand why no one else is doing this. it’s very very cold.”

Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal has been quoted several times talking about his time shooting The Last of Us in Alberta.

“Shoutout to Canada, I love Canada – take me back,” he said once during and in an interview with eTalk.

It’s also worth noting that the actor once wore Calgary-themed socks during a public outing and happily shared a story about how he saw the Northern Lights for the first time while in the province.

During an appearance on The Late Late Show With With James Corden, Daisy Edgar Jones spilled about her time in Alberta Filming Under The Banner of Heaven with Andrew Garfield.

Sitting next to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) Edgar-Jones practically lit up talking about Banff – which she said “was the most beautiful place” before completely roasting its name and even mentioning that Calgary restaurant Model Milk was a personal favourite.

Jason Momoa

A big fan of the Flames – Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) is often seen supporting northern businesses and our pro sports teams when he’s in and around Canadian sets. As you can imagine fans went absolutely bananas when he showed up at the 2018 Calgary Comic Expo in a personalized Flames Jersey.

Juno Temple

During a press tour for the fifth season of Fargo, 3-time Emmy Nominee, Juno Temple, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live where they discussed the show’s premiere, stunts and seeing the Northern Lights for the first time.

“I came home and – this was randomly after one day at work. It was about 9 o’clock at night and on the other side of the picture, if I had done panoramic, you would see that there was an amazing moon and star which is what I noticed originally,” she said.

“Then the driver was like, “Juno, look up,” and I was like holy shnikes!”

Jon Hamm and Joe Keery

Fellow Fargo, actors Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men), were once spotted at a Flames game supporting the team.

During this time they even took photos with fans in between periods!

“Albertans are real good people,” he said, sharing his excitement about a November Flames win.

Bill Burr

During an episode of the Bill Bert Podcast, Burr recalls a show that he did in the city of Calgary. Though we can only assume it was a compliment, the comedian called them the ‘craziest crowd’ he ever had and even talked about how awesome the destination was for over a minute.

“In Calgary, they we’re f***ing animals at this place! Animals!”

Bella Ramsay

An active presence on social media, Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Catherine Called Birdy) is also a big fan of the area.

“CALGARY, I can’t believe how much I missed you,” the powerhouse performer once wrote. In addition, Ramsey has posted several photos taken while filming in the area with captions reflecting on what a “beautiful sunny cold ass country,” the Great North is.

The Jonas Brothers

While it wasn’t verbal, The Jonas Brothers showed an Alberta hockey team some love while in town for their world tour.

Dressed in blue, white and orange, Joe was spotted in the stands dancing and cheering the Oilers to victory.

Singer, songwriter and dancer, Tate McRae is another celebrity who has given Alberta several shoutouts.

Originally from Calgary, Tate couldn’t contain her excitement when it was announced she’d be kicking off the North American leg of her tour at the Saddledome.

“FIRST EVA HOMETOWN SHOW IM CRYING,” she wrote on her Instagram.

Tegan and Sara

Alt-pop duo Tegan and Sara are also big Alberta fans – more specifically, Calgary, where they were raised. In fact, they wrote and produced an entire show about their upbringing in the city, aptly named High School, which was filmed mainly at Crescent Heights.

Cute, right?

There’s really nothing better than a celebrity who loves Alberta – hopefully, this list continues to grow.
