Well, hey there, friends! Happy Sunday! We honestly believe that there’s only one thing better than a fun-filled weekend, and that’s a fun-filled week. Which, if you play your cards right, is definitely in the cards this time around! Not sure where to go or what’s happening in and around YYC? We’ve got you! Here are 10 things to do this week in Calgary!
The sun is out and the heat is almost unbearable. That can only mean one thing! It’s time to hit the water, friends! Whether you’re the picnic-packing type, are looking for somewhere new to take a walk or have just forgotten how many incredible spots there are for an in-city summer toe dip, check out the link above for the best spots to hang out near the river in Calgary.
Speaking of the river – for those of you who feel like a toe-dip just isn’t enough, why rent a dingy! Grab your pals, a paddle and some snacks then hit either of Calgary’s winding rivers. Kick back and enjoy the warmth on your face and the water on your toes on an obligatory YYC adventure.
Don’t have a bathing suit? Don’t fret! Because lucky for you, Swimco actually just opened a brand new pop-up shop in Willow Park Village so you don’t have to miss out on absolutely anything this summer! From now until June 30th, check it out and get a brand new fit for up to 70%
When: June 1st – June 30th, 2021

Feel bad for leaving your pooch onshore? This week, make it up to ’em! Calgary is spoiled for choice when it comes to pet-free patios, so really, it’s just a matter of where and when! Check the link above for some of our favourite dog-friendly restaurants in YYC.
More beer? You betcha! In an effort to bring more people to the vibrant neighbourhood, The BLOX has organized a weekly challenge where people can take a ride, grab curbside pickup from one of their participating restaurants, and then get entered to win a weekly draw for prizes! For more information check out the link above!
If that wasn’t enough – this week, work those legs even more by taking a leisurely ride on a two-wheeler and getting some fresh air! Not sure where to go? Check out the link above for the 10 best places for a bike ride in and around the Calgary area.
For those who feel like they need to brighten up their lives a bit, we highly recommend that you check out the Dunvegan Garden Centre! Located just southwest of Calgary at Granary Road, this larger-than-life greenhouse carries both indoor and outdoor plants, landscaping supplies, gardening tools, and a ton more.
When: Thursday, June 17th – 18th
Where: 226066 112 Street W, Foothills County

We haven’t seen the inside of a movie theatre in a hot minute, the time is now, Calgary! Various restrictions have been lifted, allowing everything from gyms to retail spaces and, of course, the Cineplex! Have a few hours free during the day? You’re in for a treat! From Drumheller to the Calgary Zoo, Alberta is the epicentre for anything and everything prehistoric and we wear that will pride! This week, get up close and personal with lifesized herbivores, carnivores, and fellow primitive nerds, like us, at the Jurassic Forest.
Where: 23210 Township Road 564 #2, Gibbons, AB
Who said that change had to be a bad thing? We love this city update! From now until Tuesday, September 7th, Calgarians will FINALLY be able to book out picnic tables and enjoy a European-style drink or two at various parks around the city as part of a new pilot program encouraging people to get out and stay safe during a long hot COVID summer. Be safe, be responsible and half fun, friends!
