These Canadian companies were just named the world’s best employers

Job hunting? You may want to slide your resume over to these companies. Forbes has released its ranking of the world’s best employers in 2022 and several of them are in Canada.

This is Forbes’ sixth annual edition of the ranking made in partnership with the market research company Statista to determine the best-of-the-best multinational companies to work for.

Statista compiled feedback from 150,000 full-time and part-time workers in 57 countries for the ranking, which includes 800 companies in total.

Employers were ranked based on corporate impact and image, talent development, gender equality, and social responsibility.

Participants were asked to evaluate their employers and then specify whether they’d recommend them to family and friends.

Only two Canadian companies cracked the top 100 — Shopify and TD Bank Group, landing in 56th and 65th place, respectively.

Shopify employs around 10,000 people and TD Bank Group has 90,000 employees, which makes their high scores even more impressive.

A handful of other Canadian companies made it into the top 500. Here they are below, along with their ranking:

  • Scotiabank — 193
  • Desjardins — 209
  • Suncor Energy — 212
  • TELUS — 249
  • Manulife — 255
  • McCain Food — 279
  • National Bank of Canada — 283
  • Bank of Montreal — 376
  • Canadian Natural Resources — 377
  • Sun Life Financial — 379
  • OpenText — 388
  • Fortis (Canada) — 417
  • Intact Financial — 443
  • CIBC — 456

The world’s best company to work for this year is Samsung Group, which employs over 260,000 people worldwide, according to the ranking.

You can also fire off an application to the winners of Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards this year, which includes 25 outstanding Canadian companies.

And while you’re at it, you can apply to one of the companies with 4-day work weeks that are hiring right now.
