This spot in BC was just named one of the most “underrated wine regions” in the world by Vogue

From Kelowna to Osoyoos, the Okanagan Valley (unceded territory of the Syilx, Secwépemc, and Nlaka’pamux Nations) is ripe with beautiful natural landscapes, farmland, and great wine. And it looks like Vogue agrees – because they recently named the valley as one of the most “underrated wine regions” across the globe! We couldn’t agree more.

“The Okanagan Valley produces world-class wines that are difficult to find outside of Canada,” the article reads. “It’s a relatively new winemaking area and much of the wine produced here is consumed within Canada, leaving the region unknown to wine lovers in other countries.”

New wines, old soul

Despite being relatively new to the winemaking scene, the Okanagan Valley is well on its way to garnering the international recognition it deserves. According to Vogue, top winemakers from France, New Zealand, and South Africa have already made the move to the region, bringing a mix of talent and expertise to an already passionate winemaking community.

With names like Quails’ Gate, Phantom Creeks, Noble Ridge, and Covert Farms to Bartier Brothers and Clos du Soleil – it’s not hard to see why the valley is a popular getaway destination. There are so many hidden gems to explore in the area!

Juliet Wine co-founder Allison Luvera suggests taking advantage of the “stunningly beautiful” nature in the region as well. Whether it’s through “hiking,  bicycling, or kayaking on Lake Okanagan” or experiencing the “unique landscape of Canada’s only desert” at the Osoyoos Desert Centre – visitors have plenty of options.

Among the 11 other locations listed by Vogue are Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico, Szekszárd, Hungary, and Mendocino County, California. You can view the full list here.

So, if you’re considering a fall getaway sometime soon, we can’t recommend the valley enough. And hey, it never hurts to have Vogue on your side!
