After-work drinks are the perfect way to wrap up a day, week, or heck, even an hour at the job. Whether it’s been a particularly tough day at work and you’re looking to take the edge off a little bit or it’s been a great day and you want to celebrate, after-work drinks are the answer. Throw in that patio season has (kind of) arrived, and why not have those after-work drinks out in the sunshine?

Here are 8 great patios for after-work drinks in Vancouver!

Gastown

Alibi Room

A constantly rotating tap list and great food ensure that this spot will stand the test of time. You don’t even really need to sit on the patio some days as they’ll just open up their massive glass windows (are they doors?) to let the air in.

Coal Harbour

Tap & Barrel

We don’t usually find ourselves in Coal Harbour but when we do head down (mostly to show off the city to friends), we head to Tap & Barrel. The entire brand is built around great patios, and this is their crown jewel.

Hours: Sunday to Wednesday, 11AM-11PM, and Thursday to Friday, 11AM-12AM
Where: Convention Centre West

West End

Zabu Chicken

Bet you thought we would pick the Cactus Club at English Bay. Nope, Zabu is where it’s at. Get delicious KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) as you lose yourself in endless bottles of soju. Warning- soju can be a dangerous beast, so go easy if it’s your first time.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 3PM-1AM and Friday/Saturday, 3PM-2AM
Where: 1635 Robson Street

Chinatown

The Keefer Bar

Don’t let the ritzy atmosphere fool you, the Keefer Bar has stiff drinks and a laidback setting. This becomes even more apparent when you realize that they have an incredible happy hour and daily specials Sunday to Thursday.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 5PM-1AM and Friday/Saturday, 5PM-2AM
Where: 135 Keefer Street

Strathcona

The Boxcar

Full disclosure, we have not been here in a second but we hope to God that they still have those picnic tables out the back. Grab a pint of local beer, order a pizza from Farina next door, and enjoy yourself.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 5PM-1AM, Friday/Saturday, 4PM-2AM, and Sunday 4PM-1AM
Where: 923 Main Street

Commercial

The Tangent Café

tangent cafe

This spot on the Drive is great for good eats and exploring all of what Dageraad Brewing has to offer. Bonus time- they’ve got jazz night Thursdays and Sundays, which makes it great for looking cool in front of your date.

Hours: Monday/Tuesday, 8AM-3PM, Wednesday/Thursday, 8AM-12AM, Friday/Saturday, 8AM-1AM and Sunday, 8AM-10PM
Where: 2095 Commercial Drive

Chewies

chewies

While LOCAL will be swarming the entire summer, Chewies usually has a couple of spots on the patio and is like 2 blocks away. Great for tucking into some oysters and white wine in the summer, and another solid date night option.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 5PM-11: 45 PM and Saturday/Sunday, 10:30AM-11: 45 PM
Where: 2201 W 1st Avenue

Dark Horse Pick- Rajio

rajio

We just love Rajio, and we’re going there this weekend. Their ginger ale mixed drinks are incredible, and you can even get a bevy served out of a watermelon. Pair that with deep fried cheap eats, and you’ve got yourself a party.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 5:30PM-11: 30 PM and Friday/Saturday, 5:30PM-12AM
Where: 3763 W 10th Avenue
