Summer is here, but it won’t be long until the grass is covered in leaves and the trees begin to yellow… after all, time flies when you’re having fun! Luckily, there are still several weeks left on the calendar to enjoy the sunnier season – but you better get moving! If of course, you’re not sure where to go or what to do, here are 12 stunning places in Alberta to see before summer ends.
With bright blue water, cliffs and picnic areas, Castle Falls is absolutely worth checking out. This summer bathing suit, some sunscreen and a towel, then check out one of the most beautiful places in the province.

Looking to explore something truly spectacular? Check out the Red Rock Canyon, a natural treasure where vibrant rocks, blue sky and lush vegetation can be enjoyed on foot or from a picnic blanket.

A historical site, a marvel, and a must-visit this summer. Credited for having the greatest concentration of Late Cretaceous dinosaur fossils on Earth, Dinosaur Provincial Park is a history-rich destination with low-lying coulees, hoodoos and mesas that will transport you way back to a land before time.

Considered by many to be the best beach in not only Alberta but Canada as well, Kinsoo is located on the east end of Cold Lake. With an insane three-block stretch of fine sand, gorgeous views and equipment rentals, and a designated swimming area, those who haven’t been – should definitely check it out this summer.

Few things have the power to stop us in our tracks quite like a waterfall and Kakwa Falls, the tallest in Alberta, is a must-visit. Located about 3 hours from Grande Prairie, just along the British Columbia border – these mega falls are 30 meters high, which is approximately the size of a 9-story building

The trees, the food, the mountains – the swimming holes? There’s plenty to love about Canmore, but Quarry Lake is one of our favourite little spots. Here you can swim, lounge and take in a stunning sight under the sun.

Another must-visit this summer? The Bowden Sunmaze! This year (when they’re in full bloom) guests can wander the beautiful fields and snap a few pics in celebration of the warmer season.

Located in Waterton National Park, Crypt Lake is a stunning destination best known for its payoff… despite challenging seasoned and intermediate hikers alike. Once named one of National Geographic’s “19 Thrilling Trails Guaranteed to Make Your Heart Race”, Crypt Lake is action-packed with 4 spectacular waterfalls (one of which is over 600 ft tall), close calls and towering trees. Lethbridge’s Iconic Japanese Garden is one of the most beautiful places in not just Alberta, but all of North America. This summer, grab the hand of someone special and wander through fields of flowers, trees, and beautifully cut grass of Nikka Yuko.

Located pretty close to the town of Jasper, Lake Anette is well known for its quiet sandy beach, crystal clear water, its beautiful grassy area perfect for laying about or having a bite, and like everything else that is in or around the mountain town, its beautiful view.

Sylvan Lake is by far the most popular beach in Alberta. Located at the midpoint between Calgary and Edmonton, this sunny day destination is where you go to make a memory, have a nice lunch, take a walk and hang out on the sand.

Located in Jasper National Park, Maligne Canyon is a vision, especially in the winter. With the help of a professional guide, explorers can tour 30-metre-high icy passages, majestic frozen waterfalls, and the frozen canyon floor.
