From valleys and peaks to lakes and rivers, Alberta has some incredible sights and sounds, but one of the best has to be Castle Falls – a stunning destination with cascading waterfalls and towering trees.

Located less than 3 hours south of Calgary’s city centre, this sunny day oasis makes for the perfect day trip, overnight staycation and bucket list item for explorers, adventures and thrill seekers.

With crystal clear water and cliffside viewpoints, Castle Falls is not only a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic, but it also has a campground where guests can fall asleep to the sound of the rapids nearby.

Though you’ll have to bring your own drinking water, firepits are available and the quiet is unmatched – though, that doesn’t mean it’s boring!

From hiking and bird watching to swimming and fishing this unique spot is a dream, but be warned.

The water here is pretty dang cold, but it’s worth taking a dip.
