Edmonton’s first mobile grocery store kicks off this week

Via Quicken

Tired of foraging through grocery stores and over-paying for average-tasting produce? Well, Fresh Routes Mobile Grocery Store is about to pop-up in Edmonton stocked full of fresh produce, eggs, bread and more. Plus, it will all be sold at discount prices. Dynamite!

The first stop will be at the Clareview Community Recreation Centre and will pop-up every Wednesday from 6 pm – 8:30 pm.

As reported by CBC, Fresh Routes is also starting a grocery bus program in Calgary this week. Instead of a mobile grocery store, however, the Edmonton pop-up will be hosted in a one-ton truck.

Now, Fresh Routes has a bus up-and-running and ready to deliver healthy and affordable groceries to shoppers who need them the most.

That means that the produce from Fresh Routes’ Edmonton mobile grocery store will be selling at around half the cost of typical market prices. That’s great news for a whole bunch of people who can’t get to grocery stores easily, might be a little short on cash, and still want to eat healthily.

It’s wheels up on this new project put on by the Grocery Run and the Leftovers Foundation. Keep an eye on us for more information about more Fresh Routes’ pop-ups coming to Edmonton soon!
