It’s a great day for patio content, folks. We’ve got beautiful waterfront patios, dog-friendly spots, and now, a pop-up patio to rule them all: Batch Vancouver. Its location? Inside a custom-built shipping container along the False Creek seawall!
While the Plaza of Nations is slated to be redeveloped into a mix of residential, commercial, and community sites, it’s currently pretty vacant, apart from the occasional Playa Patron and AYCE event. Luckily, the space now contains a 10-foot by 20-foot shipping container trailer intended to revamp ‘dead lots’ awaiting development – and it has a 70-seat licensed patio that recently soft-opened to the public.

What can visitors expect? An array of smaller local food vendors, to start, as well as representation from craft breweries like 33 Acres, and live music to cap it all off. There’s even mention of open mic nights on Fridays that we’re keeping on our radar!

In terms of food options, Batch is testing out everything from Nightingale pizza to charcuterie. And this weekend, Rosie’s BBQ & Smokehouse is pulling up in their 19-foot smoker, Hank.
Guests can expect locally sourced meats smoked to Central Texan BBQ perfection. From brisket and ribs to Barbacoa beef and delicious smoked burgers – there will be no shortage of options. And of course, there will be plenty of classic southern sides like cornbread and coleslaw to accompany your meal.
And if you’re more of a taco person, you’ll want to head to Batch on Labour Day Monday. Rosie’s is rolling out a special taco pop-up inspired by the recipes Chef Karl Gregg learned during culinary trips to Mazatlan. Expect artisanal tortillas, smoked El Pastor with green sauce and pineapple, Carne Asada with housemade salsa macha, and much more.
So, whether you’re biking the seawall or going for a stroll around False Creek this weekend, this is definitely a must-visit spot for refuelling and lounging with friends. Let us know if you decide to hit up Batch, and we’ll check back in soon!
