The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (Aug. 25)

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

From store openings to festival guides, we’ve got all the details you and your group chat will want this week. Without further ado, let’s jump straight into the breakdown.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

It’s a miracle… (almost) no forecasted rain for the next week in Edmonton

Honestly, we can’t believe it either.

With the exception of a 60 per cent chance of showers on Thursday night, Environment and Climate Change Canada is projecting a week of sun ahead of us. This Wednesday, we’ll even see a high of 29°C, so get ready to go outside and enjoy the nice weather for once.

Enjoy the weather with an epic music festival in the city

Boots and Hearts West is coming to Edmonton this weekend, and we’ve rounded up all the details you’ll need to know before attending the highly anticipated Boots and Hearts festival in Alberta.

The country-music festival originated in Ontario, and last year it announced it would be coming to Alberta for the first time ever. With headliners like Russell Dickerson and Shaboozey, the festival is bringing all the energy out into the wild west. If you and your friends are planning to attend, you might want to check out our festival guide.

Or maybe you want to keep your activities indoors?

This Friday, Rock Jungle Climbing will be offering free rock climbing at all three of its Edmonton locations (Factory, Boulders, and Niche) all day long. Free Climb Day will offer free equipment rentals, and there’s no membership needed to enjoy this promotion.

There’s also a store-opening finally hitting West Edmonton Mall

Unique Bunny came to Canada in 2014, after Fiona, the founder of Unique Bunny, arrived in the country and noticed the gap in the market for authentic Asian skincare products. Now, it’s 2026, and it’s making its way to the biggest mall in Edmonton: West Edmonton Mall.

The grand opening is going to be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, and Edmonton can expect a whole bunch of special offers and opening gifts to be revealed in due time.

West Edmonton Mall just announced its newest convention, too!

West Edmonton Mall and YEGKPOP are coming together this September to bring the inaugural KosmoCon K-pop Convention to the city.

This event weekend will be here to focus on all things K-pop, from unique local vendors and interactive brand experiences to random play dance, choreography sessions, and dance competitions. Not to mention, the convention will be welcoming ONEUS to WEM for their Canadian debut.
