Full honesty here- we’d be disappointed if Emily Carr wasn’t named the top art and design university in Canada this year. What’s more, it’s actually the only Canadian to be included in the top 50 globally. Let’s check it out!
The ranking comes from the QS World University Rankings, which looked at over 5,500 universities for the 2021 rankings. In addition to ranking top schools generally and by each country, the rankings also distinguish them by the subjects that they focus on.

And, that includes a devoted ranking for art and design. The top spots were dominated by big names like Parsons School of Design and the Royal College of Art. But, Emily Carr is actually trending up in the 30th spot. Since moving into the new location in 2017, Emily Carr has risen over 20 spots on the list. At this pace, we’ll be in the top 10 in no time!
