Washington is back in the news for something pretty unsurprising. Our beautiful state has not one but two zip codes that now rank amongst America’s most expensive zip codes. Have any guesses? Keep reading to find out.

Luckily, Seattle itself gets a pass on this one. While Seattle is certainly pricey, the two zip codes that landed on PropertyShark’s study were actually on the Eastside. Who would’ve thought? Now if you use your big Seattle name knowledge, you’ll remember that both Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos live in Medina and big names like Paul Allen and Ann Dunham have lived in Mercer Island.

If you didn’t guess, Medina and Mercer Island are the two Washington zip codes that made the list. Medina came in #10 while Mercer Island came in #82. To put things in perspective Medina saw a 24% year-over-year increase pushing the median home sale to $4 million. Things have stayed a bit cooler in Mercer Island with a median sale price of $1.795 million.

Now if you’re wondering, this list determines its rankings by calculating the median price of final home sales instead of listing values. And while we did have a top 10 spot, California still has us beat for being the priciest and also wraps the list with some of the “less” expensive zip codes. Trust us folks, they’re still very pricey.
