From The Last Of Us and Fargo to My Life With the Walter Boys, Wild Rose Country has graced a ton of screens both big and small over the last few years and 2024 will be no different.

Starring Gillian Anderson (The Crown) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), ‘The Abandons’ will soon film in and around Alberta and it sounds riveting.

“The Abandons tells the story of a group of diverse families in 1850s Oregon,” explains Netflix’s TUDUM.

“Headey plays Fiona, the devout adoptive mother of four young orphans. When a corrupt and powerful force conspires to push these abandoned souls off of their land, they find themselves in a deadly clash for the right to Manifest Destiny. As blood is spilled, the line between survival and the law becomes increasingly blurry.”

Though an exact production date has yet to be announced, the cast and crew are set to kick things off this spring, which is much later than originally anticipated.

Like so many other shows, The Abandons was actually delayed due to the writer’s strike, but with an agreement in place – Alberta is back in business!

This particular show was created and executive produced by showrunner Karl Sutter (Sons Of Anarchy) and will largely take place in the Wild West so keep your eyes out!

It’s only a matter of time until these Hollywood greats are gushing about the province like fellow guests Andrew Garfield and Pedro Pascal, but we’ll keep you updated!

Big things are coming.
