Toronto restaurant voted best takeout in Canada has a pop-up this weekend only

If your ideal Friday night is to have some friends over for an epic feast, consider this your perfect excuse. Sunny’s Chinese, an Instagram-based pop-up born out of the pandemic that has since been voted the best takeout in the country, is having a limited-time special this weekend. If that’s not enough to make your mouth water, just wait ’til you see what’s on the menu.

Some of the mouthwatering dishes you’ll get to try include silken tofu, wood ear mushroom, Yibin burning noodle, beef and radish stew, water boiled fish, mango pudding with condensed milk, and more.

Plus, you can choose from a selection of wines, cocktails, and sake from their bottle shop to go with your meal.

Certain modifications can be made to make the dishes pescetarian-friendly, nut-free, dairy-free, and shellfish-free, but they cannot accommodate vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, allium-free, or sesame-free diets. You can specify your allergies in your order.

Sunny’s Chinese was started by Toronto restaurateur and executive chef David Schwartz and Braden Chong, a former chef at the three Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Tokyo called Sazenka, plus two additional cooks named Keith Siu and Joseph Ysmael, reports the Toronto Star.

Today, Sunny’s boasts nearly 15,000 followers and holds the title of Best Takeout in Air Canada’s ranking of Canada’s Best New Restaurants for 2021.

The chefs take customers on a journey through their cuisine, exploring a different region of China with each menu. This weekend’s menu is described as multi-regional, so your tastebuds are in for a treat.

The menu, which generously feeds up to 3 people, is only available for pickup from January 21st to the 23rd. You’ll have to place your order in advance and you’ll want to do it quickly because these pop-ups tend to sell out.
