Picnic with a purpose: Dine at a Vancouver park & sip on some some bubbly at this fundraising event

Does lounging at a Vancouver park with food from your fave restaurant and a bottle of bubbly sound like the best plan ever?? Well, we’ve got some great news – you can do exactly that at this first-ever Picnic + Bubbles fundraising event. Best of all? The ‘picnic for two’ experience includes restos in Vancouver, Penticton, and Kelowna!

The cause

The DIY picnic event is organized by the culinary group Les Dames d’Escoffier BC, and they’re donating half of all proceeds to Food Bank BC in support of women working in the hospitality and food industries.

How it works

First, you and your plus one will select your fave eats from the list of participating restaurants and vendors (there are about a dozen in Vancouver, Burnaby, & North Van). Then, you’ll pair your food selection with a bottle of sparkling wine and head to the park/picnic spot of your choice.

Each pair will pick up their picnic package at a designated time between 3 and 5 pm. After that, folks are free to fully unwind and dig into their eats & drinks – in an alcohol-friendly zone, of course! Otherwise, you can always enjoy your picnic in the comfort of your own backyard.

Picnic spots

Les Dames suggests Vanier Park in Vancouver, Victoria Park in North Van, and Penticton Beach in Penticton – if you need a couple of ideas to get you started. We’ll definitely toast to that – plus all of these beautiful picnic spots around the city.

The ‘picnic for two’ includes a main dish created by your chosen restaurant, two sides, dessert and a bottle of bubbles that pairs perfectly with your meal. Tickets are $150 for two and must be purchased in advance.

So, if you’re looking for a romantic date idea or planning a catch-up session with a friend, a picnic in Vancouver is always a great choice. Especially when you’re doing a bit of good, too.

Happy picnicking, folks!
