Where to go thrifting for last-minute Halloween costumes in Vancouver

There’s no better place to shop for last-minute Halloween costumes (or clothing in general) than at Vancouver’s many thrift stores. Don’t let limited time derail your plans; consider popping into one or a handful of these second-hand spots on your next lunch break, because you never know what you’ll find.

Mintage

Mintage has been a staple in the city for over 15 years. Here, you’ll find incredible pieces fit for every occasion, whether it’s a 1920s-themed party, a beach day, or some colourful flannels to spruce up your fall wardrobe. With its OG location on Commercial, newer Mintage Cafe on Robson, and Vancouver’s first-ever vintage collective, Mintage Mall in Mount Pleasant, there are plenty of racks to hit with no shortage of finds.

Where: 1714 Commercial Dr., 1008 Robson St., and 245 East Broadway

Butter & Jazz Vintage and Thrift

With cozy seating and dressing rooms, Butter & Jazz is a great place to pop into for a bit of perusing and try-ons. Plus, there’s vintage homeware, art, furniture, and books to check out during your next visit that make it a fun store to be inspired by.

Where: 916 Commercial Dr.

Community Thrift and Vintage

We love Community and their ever-changing inventory and affordable prices. With a range of men’s, women’s and unisex items to check out, you’ll almost forget that their main goal is helping out the PHS Community Services Society. And there are two adjacent locations to shop!

Where: 311 Carrall St. and 11 West Hastings St.

Front & Company

This is a great spot for gifts, clothes, and accessories of all kinds. Whether it’s a spooky-themed trinket or a crazy pair of earrings, tights, or a vampiric-inspired dress, you’ll find everything you need here.

Where: 3772 Main St.

Rummage Community Thrift

In addition to having great finds at great prices, Rummage has a cozy vibe that will make you want to get lost for an afternoon. Oh, and it’s open seven days a week, so you won’t ever be surprised by a “closed” sign here.

Where: 1854 West 4th St.

Rewind Resale

This tiny but mighty thrift shop has an eclectic mix of vintage and pre-loved finds. From rare graphic T-shirts and designer belts to rave-worthy crop tops and clubwear, Rewind has a little bit of everything.

Where: 2331 Main St.

Turnabout

Turnabout might have more of a luxury consignment store vibe, but its multiple storefronts mean that you have more chances of finding a piece you might be looking for. Even if it’s a simple belt or hat that ties your look together.

Where: Multiple locations in Vancouver
