A new interactive immersive experience is opening in Vancouver next week

A new interactive immersive experience at Oakridge Park mall in Vancouver will let visitors step into a game, using their movements to tackle challenges projected onto the floor.

Called “Wonderground,” the space is scheduled to officially open on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.

The mall has partnered with Montreal-based entertainment studio Moment Factory on the installation, which combines interactive floor projections with lighting effects.

Players use their bodies to control the action, with no need to hold a controller, put on a headset, or wear any special equipment.

The announced lineup for Moment Factory’s Augmented Games includes seven games, ranging from races and reflex tests to memory challenges that rely on teamwork.

“Our mandate at Moment Factory is to build environments that bring people together through wonder, play, and shared discovery,” said Patrick Bisson, the creative director of Moment Factory, in a statement.

Within Vancouver, Moment Factory is perhaps best known for its previous work in creating the pre-show for the Flyover attraction at Canada Place.

“At Oakridge Park, multimedia isn’t just on display, it’s woven into the physical landscape to create a digital playground where every visit feels unique and joyful, bringing people of all ages into the experience,” continued Bisson.

For visitors looking to pick up the pace, Obstacles sends each participant back and forth along a separate lane, with obstacles to dodge along the way. Hotspot challenges players to activate targets before time runs out, while Target has them collect white targets and avoid red ones within their own squares.

Grid is a team competition involving a ball that changes unpredictably. Polygon tests players’ reflexes as they try to outlast their opponents with a limited number of lives.

Other challenges put memory to the test. Pathfinder asks participants to memorize illuminated paths and retrace them as quickly and accurately as possible. Memory has players work together to match symbols before the clock runs out.

Wonderground is also designed to accommodate activities beyond gaming. The space can be adapted for uses such as brand pop-ups and organized dinner parties.

“Wonderground at Oakridge Park represents the kind of shared, immersive environment we believe defines the future of public spaces,” said Chrystal Burns of QuadReal Property Group.

“By blending technology, storytelling and the natural rhythm of the park, this installation creates a place where people can gather, explore and feel connected to each other and the environment around them.”

According to Oakridge Park’s website, game sessions require reservations and will be supervised by staff. Reservations can now be made online with a fee of $30 per person. Each session lasts for 45 minutes and can accommodate up to four players.

Participants are encouraged to wear running shoes and comfortable clothing.

Wonderground is located on the first level in the West Galleria of Oakridge Park.
