If this past weekend showed us anything, it’s that this summer is going to be an absolute scorcher. Already, BC has experienced unseasonably hot weather, shattering dozens of records in the past 48 hours alone. The good news is, we’re about to get some more options for cooling down, because four outdoor public pools are set to reopen in Vancouver soon.

According to the City of Vancouver’s website, two outdoor pools are expected to open just in time for the May long weekend: The pools at Second Beach and New Brighton.

These outdoor pools will officially reopen for the season on May 20th.

Likewise, the Maple Grove and Hillcrest pools will welcome swimmers starting June 15th.

Oh, and fans of Kitsilano Pool don’t have long to wait either! The beloved beachside pool will officially reopen on Sunday, June 4th – and you can book your spot online up to three days in advance.

You can reserve your spot online up to three days in advance. So starting May 17th, you can schedule your swim at Second Beach and New Brighton, and on June 12th, you can do so for the pools at Maple Grove and Hillcrest.

Also starting May 20th, lifeguards will be on duty at designated swimming areas at the following beaches:

  • English Bay
  • Jericho
  • Kitsilano
  • Locarno
  • Spanish Banks East and West
  • Sunset
  • Second
  • Third

So there you have it, Vancouver. If you’re looking to beat the heat, you’ll have four outdoor pools to choose from in Vancouver fairly soon.
