One of the most spectacular annual events in the city is set to light up Vancouver’s skies once again. The Honda Celebration of Light draws thousands of local and international visitors every year, and this summer will be no exception, due in large part to an extra boost to local tourism in BC via PacifiCan.

Back in April, the federal government announced an investment of $457,760 through the Tourism Relief Fund for the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society.

“The Honda Celebration of Lights is a landmark event in the Lower Mainland that my family has attended many times. It’s one of many events and attractions that showcase Vancouver as a great place to live, work, and visit,” explains Minister of International Development Harjit S. Sajjan. “The Tourism Relief Fund will support the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society in putting on an exciting and safe event in 2023.”

This year’s competition will kick off with representation from Australia (Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics) on Saturday, July 22nd, followed by Mexico (Grupo Avacon) on Wednesday, July 26th and The Philippines (Blue Peacock Fireworks) on Saturday, July 29th.

For reference, the Honda Celebration of Light is both BC’s largest live event and the longest-running offshore fireworks festival in the world. Since 1990, the event has hosted dozens of countries for the international exhibition and competition.

So mark your calendars and get excited, because the firework fest will be here before you know it!
