Alright, foodies. Get your forks and napkins ready, because we’re about to spill on some of the tastiest new spots around town. From The Farmhouse to the highly-anticipated launch of Novella Coffee Bar, here are 12 new restaurants & cafes to check out around Vancouver this December.
The Farmhouse is a rustic, intimate spot that keeps things simple so that the emphasis is all on the food. Serving Northern Italian fare in a comfy space, you’ll definitely feel like you’re dining in someone’s home when you’re here. The new spot is officially open from Wednesday to Sunday from 4 pm to 10 pm (and until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays), so book those resos while you can!
Where: 352 East 10th Avenue
Don’t be deterred by the “coming soon” message on their website – The Brightside Cafe is officially open from 8 am to 4 pm every day of the week. And the new space is perfect for a cozy catch-up with friends or a cup of espresso during your lunch break. Dinner and drink options are coming soon, but for now, guests can enjoy a variety of fresh pastries, coffee, breakfast, and lunch options.
Where: 3040 West Broadway
For a new fine dining option that has just as many innovative cocktails as it does plates, check out Sector 7 Kitchen & Bar in Richmond. The new spot serves up everything from Korean chicken wings and Shanghai crispy noodles to birria tacos and burgers. Think old-school vibes meet new-school tastes.
Where: 9371 No 5 Road #10, Richmond
Pistachio Sweetery Cafe might be new to the scene, but they’ve already garnered a rep for having some of the best cheesecake around. The dessert-focused cafe is 100% halal and has a plethora of Middle Eastern pastries and sweets to choose from – including authentic kunafa and baklava. Oh, and they host regular Arabian Music Nights!
Where: 686 Seymour Street
A new culinary “playground” and Asian-inspired gastropub just launched in Vancouver this November – and it’s definitely on our must-visit list this month. Their specialty? A mix of “fast-casual dishes” inspired by the West Coast. And what better way to create intrigue than with a name like The Darkside?
Where: 219 Union Street
Vegan food lovers, this one’s for you. Erin Ireland’s famous banana bread finally has a permanent home in East Van, and you can officially enjoy some in a brand-new space, complete with cozy nooks and hanging plants. The cafe is open from 7 am to 5 pm daily.
Where: 1508 Nanaimo Street
Attention steak lovers! Joining the newer Vancouver International Airport location is another Chop Steakhouse & Bar, making it that much easier to enjoy a delicious steak and glass of vino. The powerhouse restaurant serves up everything from filling salads & power bowls to Chili Garlic Shrimp. And in terms of tasty drinks to pair with your meal, we’re eyeing the sparkling sangria and the Tony Mendez.
