Alright, friends, this weekend we recommend planning ahead if you’ve got somewhere important to be because, with HBO’s new series The Last Of Us filming so publically around Calgary, we’re in for a few more road closures.

ICYMI, it was only a week ago that production completely shut down the Memorial flyover bridge for the show, staging an impressive scene of abandoned and debris-covered vehicles and wildly growing plants.

We can expect to see a lot more of this until June 2022 when they wrap things up, as the video game adaption is set in post-apocalyptic America where humans have nearly been wiped out by a mutating fungus.

Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Narcos) as Joel, a smuggler and Bella Ramsey (Game Of Thrones) as his much younger companion Ellie, the Alberta-shot series is expected to be the most expensive TV show in history – meaning the set design for this show has been pretty immaculate.

Between this Saturday, October 23rd, and October 28th, expect to see 1st Street between 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue SW completely transformed from a YYC hotspot to a desolate warzone. Likewise, commuters are also asked not to drive along 12th Avenue between Centre Street and 2nd Street between Tuesday, October 26th and the 27th.

Give yourself a little extra time for your commute and keep an eye out! You never know what or who you might see on your drive into work!
