Hello, Edmonton! Ready for a weird list of things to do this weekend in the city? Of course you are. This weekend features everything from country concerts to drive-in movies to comedy fests. Basically, we’ve got a real mixed bag lined up for this weekend and we’re excited about it.

Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Edmonton.

Halloween Drive-In Movie

Looking to shake things up for date night? Head to this Halloween drive-in to catch a screening of the latest movie from The Conjuring universe- Annabelle Comes Home. Bonus points if you drive one of those super comfy sedands from the 80s.

When: Friday, October 18
Where: Bonnie Doon Mall
Cost: $15-$30

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers have got not one, but two games this week! They’ve had one heckuva start, and we’re hoping they keep that energy up as they face off against the Red Wings tomorrow.

When: Friday, October 18
Where: Rogers Place
Cost: $65 and up

The Paper Kites

This Australian indie rock band first blew up with their hit single ‘Bloom’ way back in 2010. Their 2018 album ‘On the Corner Where You Live’ is yet another solid album in the discography.

When: Saturday, October 19
Where: Myer Horowitz Theatre
Tickets: $24.50

Dallas Smith and Dean Brody

The two Canadian country stars have paired up to tour across the country. Feel like some pop-country is just what you need this fall? Look no further than these two.

When: Saturday, October 19
Where: Rogers Place
Tickets: $108 and up

Edmonton Short Film Fest

Think of it as variety hour but for a film festival! The first night focuses on short films (15 mins or less), while the second is about ‘long shorts’ (60 mins or less). Either way, you’ll walk away happy.

When: Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20
Where: Metro Cinema
Tickets: Vary per event

Oh, you thought we wouldn’t include all the spooky stuff going down this month? Yeah right. DARK is Fort Edmonton’s transformation into a variety of haunted houses, roving entertainment, and scare zones. Scary!

When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Fort Edmonton
Tickets: $40

Edmonton Comedy Fest

Laugh it up with both local comics and some from across North America. One stand-out name is Emo Philips, who is widely considered one of the funniest comics around.

When: Ends Sunday, October 20
Where: Venues around Edmonton
Tickets: Vary per event

Vikings: Beyond the Legend

The largest touring collection of viking artifacts in the world is at the Royal Alberta Museum right now. But, it ends on Sunday, so you should really get over there before they pack it up.

When: Now until Sunday, October 20
Where: Royal Alberta Museum
Tickets: $19

And there you have it! All of the best things to do this weekend in Edmonton. We’re intrigued by the drive-in experience, maybe we’ll bring our favourite doll to come watch it with us.
