8 Things To Do in Edmonton this Week (April 15-18)

Via BBC / Guy Levy

What’s up, Edmonton! We hope you enjoyed your weekend, but now it’s back to the real grind to get the week started! As per usual, there are plenty of things to check out that you may or may not have known about, and that’s why we’re here!  We’ve gone ahead and compiled a few of the best things to do in Edmonton this week!

Keep it classy with Michael Bublé

The smoothest Canadian we can think of will be strolling through town Monday night, probably in a tux and with a glass of expensive scotch in his hand. He’s slick like a modern-day Sinatra but as friendly as your regular old Canuck, so any experience at a Bublé concert is practically guaranteed to be a good one.

When: Monday, April 15 @ 8 PM
Where:  Rogers Place
Cost: $86+

The 111th Annual Kiwanis Festival

That’s right, for 111 years the Kiwanis Music Festival has given opportunities to students, teachers, learners, collaborators, etc. to grow their musical experiences and show off some abilities!

When: From Monday, April 15 – Monday, May 5
Where: Various Locations
Cost: Free Admission

Get that summer bod going at the MEC Summer Series

Should we be there? Yes. Will we be there? No. Don’t let our laziness leak into your lives though, people! Get out there and run! Or at least go for a hike somewhere nearby- your friends won’t know the difference.

When: Monday, 15 April
Where: MEC Edmonton, 11904 104 Ave
Cost: 3 Trail Races for $60

Jam out with Breaking Benjamin

Sometimes we all need to let loose and headbang our worries away. There won’t be a better opportunity for that than with BB out at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Pro-tip: bring earplugs.

When: Thursday, April 18 @ 7 PM
Where: Edmonton Convention Centre
Cost: $60+

Alan Parsons Project

Remaining relevant as a touring act for 40 years isn’t easy, so whether or not you’re a fan of The Alan Parsons Project doesn’t matter, you still gotta give ’em props. But hey, if you’re down to see some low-key musical legends go to work, then this is your best bet this week.

When: Tuesday, April 16 @ 7:30 PM
Where: Winspear Centre, 4 Sir Winston Churchill Square Northwest & Corner of 99 Street & 102 Avenue
Cost: $52.50+

Beers & Cactus DIY at SYC Brewery

Build a cactus garden, drink some beers, and have an all-around good, albeit fun, time. Can’t do this every day, so might as well give it a shot for a little out of the box date night idea.

When: Wednesday, April 17 @ 7 PM
Where:  SYC Brewery, 11239 180 St NW
Cost: $40

5-Course Spiritless Dinner

Change it up and let yourself detox a tad with this spiritless 5-course dinner at Northern Chicken. The food will be great, the drinks will be fun, and the only hangover you’ll have is a fried chicken one. Not bad at all!

When: Wednesday, April 17 @ 6:30 PM
Where:  Northern Chicken, 10704 124 Street
Cost: $50

Couples Gaming Tournament at The Rec Room

If cactus-garden-building isn’t quite you and your significant other’s thing, then maybe this straightforward gaming tournament will be more your vibe. Plenty of couples, sixty minutes to collect points, only one pair will survive (or something like that).

When: Thursday, April 18
Where: The Rec Room, 1725 99 Street Northwest
Cost: $15 per couple

Well, there you have it, folks! Some of the best things to do in Edmonton this week. Enjoy it!
