Happy Thursday, Edmonton! Although we don’t have the best weekend of weather in store, we don’t think that’s a good excuse to not enjoy the city a little bit. So, we’ve rounded up some of our top picks for the next few days.
Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Edmonton.
Yup, Cineplex theatres in Edmonton officially reopen in Edmonton on Friday. So if you’ve been itching to enjoy something on the silver screen, now’s your opportunity!
Considering the forecast, maybe this is the weekend that you get back to the Art Gallery of Alberta. With updated public health guidelines, this is definitely a great pick for those looking for a little culture.
And on that note, make it a double-whammy at the Royal Alberta Museum! Art one day, history and other fun stuff the next. You’ll be absolutely bubbling with information to share with coworkers or friends on Monday, whether they want to hear it or not.
Maybe returning to a movie theatre isn’t exactly your speed. Hey, no problem. In fact, you couldn’t pick a better weekend to watch a movie at home, since a ton of Studio Ghibli films have landed on Netflix Canada! Who doesn’t love My Neighbour Totoro?
This is more of a ‘plan ahead’ pick, but you should know that camping at National Parks across Canada opened up for reservations this week. So if you’re looking to spend a few nights under the stars, this is a great place to start off.
The City of Edmonton just launched a new wayfinding map that sums up pretty much everything the city has to offer. Trails, parks, city attractions, and even transit stations have been listed. If you were looking for a new way to explore the city, this could be it.
On Thursday morning, PM Trudeau announced a new grant for post-secondary students. This grant will provide funding of up to $5k for students who volunteer with charities and non-profits to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Nice!
It sounds like blasphemy, we know. But, we recently updated our guide to the best waterfalls to see across Canada, and a handful (like Maligne Canyon, the feature image) are right here in Alberta! Considering this is going to be the summer of local tourism, checking out cool waterfalls is a great place to start.
And that’s our list of the things to do in Edmonton this weekend! We hope that you enjoy it, folks!
