We hope you had a good weekend, folks! And what’s more, we hope that you’re ready for another week of action in and around Edmonton. We’ve got Canada Day to look forward to, plus it’s the start of July! Just pointing out the obvious here, sorry.

Here are 8 things to do this week in Edmonton.

EXPLORE THE CITY

The City of Edmonton just launched a new wayfinding map that sums up pretty much everything the city has to offer. Trails, parks, city attractions, and even transit stations have been listed. If you were looking for a new way to explore the city, this could be it.

CHECK OUT CANADA’S CANADA DAY PLANS

Wanna go even broader than Edmonton? Cause Canada also has plans for a virtual Canada Day celebration. You can log on for entertainment from across the country. Seriously, it’s gonna be a day full of fun.

READ ABOUT KIND CANADIANS

Speaking of Canada Day, a fun way to celebrate our wonderful country could be reading about all the super Canadian acts of kindness we’ve seen this year. Good thing we’ve already put a list together for you. So read this for a little Canadian feel good content.

WATCH A MOVIE

Yup, Cineplex theatres in Edmonton officially reopened last Friday. So if you’ve been itching to enjoy something on the silver screen, now’s your opportunity! And here’s a fun fact- tickets are only $5 for the next little while.

BOOK AN ICE TIME

We’re sure there are more than a few residents who would enjoy a little bit of summer hockey. Our recommendation? Play it safe and round up a few friends for a private ice time at a City of Edmonton rink. Heads up- reservations go live on July 2nd!

HEAD TO THE MALL

Not only are most stores back up and running, but a fair number of things to do at West Edmonton Mall are back too. Sprinkle in some mini-golf or bowling in between your usual trips to grab new underwear and basic t shirts.

ENJOY SOME NEW NETFLIX SHOWS

Even in the dead of summer, Netflix still finds ways to make us come back. Next month is no different, with Mean Girls, The Big Short and The Italian Job all supposed to land on July 1st.

SEE IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER

Last week, PM Trudeau announced a new grant for post-secondary students. This grant will provide funding of up to $5k for students who volunteer with charities and non-profits to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Nice!

And that’s our roundup for the best things to do in and around Edmonton this week! We hope that you enjoy it, folks!
