Here are the best BBQ restaurants to try out in Edmonton, whenever that craving hits!

MEAT

The name kind of says it all. Despite what you might expect from such a classy title, this place is about as bright and contemporary as barbecue joints get. Vegetarians getting dragged along, have no fear. Some people come just for the mac and cheese!

Where: 8216 104 Street NW

MEMPHIS BLUES BBQ HOUSE

With locations in Alberta and BC, Memphis Blues has become synonymous with great BBQ throughout Western Canada. Even better? Over the past few years they’ve opened not one, but two locations in the city, so no more driving to Sherwood Park to get your fix.

Where: 5317 23 Avenue NW and 16907 127 Street NW

TRANSIT SMOKEHOUSE & BBQ

A new name in town, Transit has set up shop in the old Transit Hotel, which has been around for over a century. Expect a seriously fun ambience alongside some of the classics, from bowls of chilli to St. Louis-style ribs.

Where: 12720 Fort Road NW

SMOKE BBQ BAR

Another new name on the list, having only opened in early 2022! Tucked into the Crash Hotel in Edmonton’s ICE District, this is a great option for those big nights out, whether you’re checking out an Oilers game or seeing a major concert. Fun fact- since it’s primarily a bar, it’s also only open to those 18+.

Where: 10266 103 Street NW

SMOKE & ASH

It’s a little bit of a drive, but this down-home spot in Acheson more than makes up for that. It’s authentic, just like their slow-cooked BBQ fare. How authentic? We can’t find an Instagram post worth sharing from them, which means you’ll get to scream ‘first’ to your foodfluencer friends.

Where: 106 Fulton Drive, Acheson

BAEKJEONG

It’s a left-field pick, but we’re sticking to it. While Korean might not be the first thing that comes to mind for BBQ restaurants in Edmonton, there’s no denying its place in the scene. Especially when you’re put in the driver’s seat, with grills on every table!

Where: 2874 Calgary Trail NW

PAMPA BRAZILIAN STEAKHOUSE

Continuing on that tip, we’re hopping into Brazilian territory. However, it’s a quality choice for slightly more upscale meat-fest. For $35, eat as much as you please, and nobody’ going to judge if you skip the salad bar (which is actually awesome, no lie). Not to mention the service is stellar and you won’t be left wanting for anything.

Where: 9626 Ellerslie Road SW and 17020 100 Avenue NW

BARBECUE HOUSE LTD

And so, we wrap things up with a Chinese BBQ takeout-only spot. This little hole in the wall has semi-regulars who don’t even live in Edmonton. It’s not flashy, but the food is super affordable, the staff is friendly, and the dry garlic ribs are ideal. Grab an order for us, we’ll see you there.

Where: 9711 118 Avenue NW
