This city in BC was just ranked as one of the best small cities in the world

Maybe we’re a bit biased, but we think most (if not all) of the cities in BC deserve a little love. From Abbotsford to Osoyoos to Prince George and back to Vancouver – we sure have a beautiful province all around us. And it looks like Condé Nast Traveler agrees – since BC’s own Victoria just topped their list of the best small cities in the world.

The 35th edition of their annual Readers’ Choice Awards captures the most-loved travel experiences of readers from around the globe. And Victoria landed in the #2 spot, just under San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

“A popular day trip from Vancouver, British Columbia’s capital city deserves a visit of its own,” says Condé Nast. “Arrive via one of the world’s most scenic ferry rides across Swartz Bay and check in to the bucket list-worthy Fairmont Empress, where the Fairmont Gold rooms include access to a private waterfront lounge.”

Condé Nast also recommends a “more rural escape” in the ancient forests by way of road-tripping. We can definitely get on board with that!

Whether it’s high tea at one of the many restaurants and hotels in Victoria with more traditional British offerings, a unique Airbnb stay, or a trip through the provincial capital to Tofino – Victoria has a ton to offer domestic and international travellers. And it’s not the first time the city has earned a high ranking.

San Sebastián, Spain, came in at 3rd place, followed by Cambridge, United Kingdom, and Salzburg, Austria.
