10 celebrities who have shown the Calgary Flames some love

The Stanley Cup playoffs are just around the corner and ahead of the year’s most important regular season games, our city is diving head first into the C of Red – which just so happens to be swimming with notable alumni and devoted fans! In fact, you may even recognize some of them as famous actors, musicians, and comedians! Here are just a few celebrities who have shown the Calgary Flames some love over the years!

GABRIEL LUNA

What a fun-gi! Gabriel Luna, star of Alberta-shot The Last Of Us, actually hit the Scotiabank Saddledome several times while filming HBO’s hit show, but it was his appearance on January 18th that really rocked the arena! Dressed in red and yellow, the actor appeared via jumbotron cheering on our home team.

JASON MOMOA

A big fan of red and white – Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) is often seen supporting northern businesses and our pro sports teams when he’s in and around Canadian sets. As you can imagine fans went absolutely bananas when he showed up at the 2018 Calgary Comic Expo in a personalized Flames Jersey.

JAROD JOSEPH

Known for his role on the popular Netflix series ‘The 100,’ Calgary-born actor Jarod Joseph is a huge fan of the Flames and has even worked with the team to release a line of official merch with the NHL. Check it out at the link above!

NICK KROLL

As seen above in a celebratory Instapost, comedian Nick Kroll (Big Mouth) shared his love for former Flames icon Joel Otto, his old Calgary jersey, and his dad’s legs in the caption. That’s a pretty solid shout-out if we’ve ever seen one.

THE WAYANS BROTHERS

Comedy legends, Marlon and Shawn Wayans (White Chicks) are also among the celebs who have repped the Flaming C while in Calgary. Famously, the duo practically shut down the Saddledome when they attended a home game in 2010.

JON HAMM AND JOE KEERY

Recently in town filming the fourth season of Fargo, actors Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) were spotted at a February Flames game against the Boston Bruins. They even took photos with fans in between periods!

CANDACE CAMERON BURE

The wife of ex-Flames right-wing Vale Bure, the ‘Full House’ star has publically supported Calgary’s home team more than once – celebrating wins, comebacks, and even the return of their retro jerseys. We got it, dude!

CONAN O’BRIEN

A polarizing character, Conan O’Brien caught the attention of eagle-eyed Flames fans during a 2015 episode of his late-night show in which a framed Calgary jersey can be seen hung up in his office. You might not love him, but he loves us (at least enough to display a flaming C in his space.)

TEGAN AND SARA

Born in Calgary, it should come as no surprise that alt-pop favourites Tegan and Sara are also fans of our home team – sharing that some of their earliest memories were from their ’89 Stanley Cup win as a way to celebrate this season’s battle of Alberta. Cute, right?

RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON (MACGYVER)

While we’re unsure who Anderson himself cheers for during the playoffs, his on-screen persona MacGyver was a huge Flames fan, often wearing Calgary swag on the show.
