The world’s largest indoor wave pool is at this Alberta waterpark

There’s no place like the World Waterpark in Edmonton, Alta., especially if you want to make a splash this sunny season.

While there’s no shortage of swimming holes and lakes in the area, only the World Waterpark will truly “move” you.

Located in West Edmonton Mall, this beloved attraction may not be the best place to get a tan in summertime, but it is among the greatest places to go swimming in Wild Rose Country.

Not only does it have 14 thrilling waterslides, a zipline, and concession stands, but it’s also home to Blue Thunder, the largest indoor wave pool in the entire world.

Here, you can get your adrenaline pumping, go surfing, lounge in a cabana or under a palm tree, and take a tube out to the deep end as 12.5 million litres of H20 push you to and fro.

Blue Thunder is meant to mimic a “true beach” where swimmers can wind down in the shallows or catch waves as high as 1.4 metres.

Want to check it out? General admission costs $64 and gives you access to all slides, the pool, and the kids’ area.

If you want to save money, there is also a weekday value pass, which is offered on select days from Monday through Thursday, excluding stat holidays, school breaks, and high season (mid-June to mid-September).

You’re going to have a blast!
