Happy long weekend, folks! We’re sure you’ve already got a lot on your plate in terms of making plans and enjoying the summer heat this weekend – but if you don’t already have ideas on hand for Monday, don’t worry. There are plenty of places still open on the holiday that will make planning that much easier! And we’ve got the highlights to share with you.

Without further ado, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver on BC Day.

Theatre Under The Stars: We Will Rock You

Check out Monday’s showing of We Will Rock You, which interweaves a ton of exciting interactive elements into a fun nighttime event at the Stanley Malkin Bowl. The show? Picture a post-apocalyptic world set to over 20 legendary Queen songs.

Where: 610 Pipeline Road
Cost: $30-$65

Check out Big Splash Water Park

Make a giant splash this holiday at Big Splash Water Park, complete with a gigantic pool, water slides, and a 6-storey Tube ride that will have you feeling like a kid again.

Where:  4775 Nulelum Way, Tsawwassen, BC
Cost: $37 for GA

Vizzy Vacation

Although it pains us to say that this event features the last drag performances of Pride season in Vancouver, we can’t think of a better way to send off this year’s celebration. Indulge in your fave libations at the Vizzy Forest Lounge in Davie Village, AKA – the heart of Vancouver Pride. The party will commence at 1 pm and end at 11 pm.

Where: 1100 Bute Street

Chosen Family Day x Rainbow Lounge

End Pride weekend with your loved ones and chosen family – Rainbow Lounge style. Enjoy Science World’s interactive exhibit, make memories with FIN at the Canucks Booth, and much more at the first-ever Pride celebration on Granville Island! Expect ice cold bevvies, lounge-style entertainment, and your fave local drag performers and musicians.

Where: 1531 Johnston Street, Ocean Art Works Pavillion

Go chasing waterfalls

BC has some incredible waterfalls to enjoy and some of the best natural wonders in the country, we think. So, why not take the day to go chase some waterfalls and do a bit of exploring? And if you’re looking to stay closer to the city, we highly recommend Twin Falls.

BC has a ton of fun to be had by way of lazy rivers. And by lazy rivers – we mean action-packed water activities, as well as lazy rivers in the literal sense. So, whether you want to slowly drift downstream with a drink in hand, or want to have a more adventurous tubing experience, we’ve got plenty of options at the link above.

Hit up a patio happy hour

Although hours may vary depending on where you go, we’re sure the majority of patios in Vancouver will stay open for BC Day and offer visitors a great way to beat the summer heat. Slushy margaritas, anyone??

Hike up Grouse Mountain

Of course, we couldn’t forget the Grouse Grind as a summer option. Not so easy that you’ll cruise through it, but not so hard that you’ll be wondering if heading there was a good idea in the first place. Plus, the need to purchase a download ticket assures some rest and relaxation once your climb is complete.

Where: Grouse Mountain
Cost: $20 (for the download ticket)

Play a couple of rounds of mini golf

Mini-golf is a good option for just about anyone. Like bowling, the skill ceiling is weirdly high, but it’s so straightforward that a total novice will still have fun out there. Whether you’re looking for a date night option or a weekend that’s fun for the whole family, we’ve got you covered.
