These are the Best New Restaurants in Canada for 2024

It’s finally out! Air Canada has unveiled its Best New Restaurants across Canada and out of 30 wonderful establishments, here are the top 10.

From coast to coast, Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants list embraces new culinary talent, highlighting their accomplishments every year since 2002.

It’s the longest-running Canadian restaurant ranking.

How was the top 10 list put together?

To put together the Top 10 list, a single, anonymous reviewer evaluated all aspects of the dining experience.

That includes the culinary vision, quality of ingredients to service, and overall team spirit, according to the awards.

Award-winning cookbook author, Wall of Bakers judge and culinary journalist Tara O’Brady selected this year’s Top 10 restaurants. “Every restaurant I visited told an eloquent story about its community, championing local ingredients and diverse culinary traditions,” shared O’Brady.

“Notably, this year is the ‘year of the couple,’ with five of the Top 10 (and each of the top three spots) run by restaurateurs who are partners in both life and business.”

Three Toronto restaurants dominated the overall list, with Mhel coming in second place, Takja BBQ House in fourth and Bar Prima in seventh.

As for the west coast, two B.C restaurants also managed to snag a spot amongst the winners.
Without further ado, here’s this year’s top 10:

  1. Sabayon (Montreal, QC)
  2. Mhel (Toronto, ON)
  3. Maison de Soma (Mont-Tremblant, QC)
  4. Takja BBQ House (Toronto, ON)
  5. Café Malabar (Victoria, BC)
  6. Parapluie (Montreal, QC)
  7. Bar Prima (Toronto, ON)
  8. Fat Rabbit (St. Catharines, ON)
  9. Gary’s (Vancouver, BC)
  10. Crumb Queen/Andy’s Lunch (Winnipeg, MB)

“Thank you everyone! We are honoured to take 2nd place @enroutemag Canada’s best new restaurants,” shared Mhel on its Instagram story.

“We couldn’t make it today without your support and love!”

Congrats to all the winners!

It looks like we have a few restaurants to check out – and we’re not complaining.
