Virtual is the name of the games these days, especially when it comes to big events. So that’s why Seattle Seafair is going virtual for the second year in a row. That being said, the beloved summer festival is going to be a mix of virtual and in-person events so it will be slightly more normal.

The reason for the mostly virtual festival this year is that city-wide events simply can’t happen under Washington’s current Phase 3 reopening guidelines. And that means instead of fireworks this year, you’ll be able to watch an hour-long TV segment featuring some of the best fireworks shows over Lake Union from years past. When it comes to the air show, it’ll be a simulated performance from the Blue Angels. We know, kinda a bummer.

Unfortunately, the hydroplanes races in August will also be virtual with drivers racing from home. But keep in mind, you’ll be able to watch past year’s races on KING 5 as well as the virtual event. It’s also worth mentioning that Fleet Week will likely be virtual with online tours. Now while we know that this is all really disappointing, it’s for the best until we can all get vaccinated.

However, you can look forward to an in-person Torchlight Parade and run. If you’d like to learn more about Seattle Seafair 2021 you can click here. We hope that you all find safe and fun ways to celebrate this unique Seattle classic. Have a great week folks!
