You now have to be fully immunized to use a vaccine passport in Alberta

From bars and restaurants to theatres and casinos, venues across the province have completely embraced Alberta’s restriction exemption program – choosing to ask for proof of immunization upon entry instead of reinstating various guidelines that hindered their business from operating at full capacity. Up until today, however, this vaccine passport-like system only required that everyone have a single dose of the COVID vaccine to qualify.

Well, folks, change is in our immediate future, because starting Monday, October 25th, anyone entering a non-essential business must have been fully immunized with BOTH doses of an approved mRNA vaccine 14 days prior to the date that they’re using their passport.

Alternatively, those who are not fully vaccinated can also get a privately paid-for COVID test and use that instead, assuming that the results were negative and it was done up to 72-hours before.

Among the few that do not have a proof of vaccination card yet? Don’t fret! Getting one is incredibly easy and only takes a second!

All you have to do is head to the Government’s website here, enter your Alberta Health Care number, birthdate, and the month you received your last vaccine and press confirm.

After downloading your record, just make sure that you have your paperwork and a piece of identification on you at all times to avoid being denied entry to your chosen destination.
