‘The Odyssey’ features a Vancouver-born actress and stuntwoman

The Odyssey hit theatres last week and is a bona fide hit critically and commercially, and it actually has a surprising and fun Vancouver connection.

The film, which is a major box office success, stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson, among other A-list celebrities. It was written and directed by Christopher Nolan, known for films like The Dark Knight trilogy, Oppenheimer, and Inception.

Damon’s stunt double in the film is a woman named Devyn Dalton. Dalton was born right here in Vancouver. Reports suggest she grew up in Alberta but spends most of her time in Vancouver.

The multi-talented stuntwoman, actress, dancer, and voiceover artist has been in films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Barbie in Rock ‘N Royals.

Since the film’s release, Dalton has been receiving tons of media attention and praise, including from Damon, who was quoted as saying that Dalton had “the greatest arms.”

Fans are echoing Damon’s sentiments on Dalton’s Instagram.

“Just blowing up IG today with your biceps,” someone commented.

“Your arms are actually enviously good,” said another.

The Odyssey officially hit theatres on July 17, but good luck finding tickets for the film, particularly if you want to watch it in 70 mm IMAX, which you can only do in Richmond and Langley.

Seats for IMAX screenings are packed full on weekends and weekdays, even as far as in the middle of August.

Despite early skepticism on social media, upon release, the film has been reviewed by verified critics as one of the best films of 2026, and some analysts think it could top the box office results Nolan saw with his hit film The Dark Knight.
