These Canadian cities are ranked among the world’s best for 2023

It’s here! The World’s Best Cities ranking for 2023 is out and a handful of Canadian cities managed to score a spot in the top 100.

The annual list by tourism, real estate, and economic development advisor, Resonance Consultancy has finally been revealed and four Canadian cities were added to the exclusive ranking.

Each city is evaluated based on six pillars: Place, Product, Programming, People, Prosperity, and Promotion, according to the company.

Among the top five of the list you’ll find, London, England; Paris, France; New York CityUSA; Tokyo, Japan; Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As for Canadian cities, Toronto comes in first. But compared to other cities in the world, it comes in 24th place.

“With almost half of its population foreign-born, Toronto’s top 25 finish this year is powered by diversity and education, with its eponymous university, U of T, ranking #9 globally and its residents finishing #20 for the planet’s most educated,” shared Resonance in its explanation.

“All that talent, about to increase drastically due to Canada’s embrace of skilled immigrants, will supercharge an economy that already boasts the seventh-highest number of Global 500 head offices (up two spots from last year). ”

It’s been quite a notable year for Toronto when it comes to rankings. It was just named one of the best digital cities in the world! And it makes sense considering the city has seen the fastest high-tech job growth in all of North America, according to another ranking.

And that’s just the city itself. The University of Toronto has been ranked above all others in Canada, this past year, coming in second for the most sustainable university in the world. And it made the top 100 list of the World University Rankings for 2023, as the highest-ranking Canadian school in 18th place.

Though Toronto isn’t the only Canadian city to make the list. Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa managed to score a spot.
