This scenic provincial park in BC has two shining mountain lakes

Ready for a cool refreshing dip in a mountain lake? Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park in BC has two of them – both with shining, clear waters surrounded by breathtaking views of the Rockies.

The stunning park is situated in the Kootenay Ranges of the Rocky Mountains, 22 km southeast of the Village of Canal Flats.

Visitors can explore a historic lakeside hiking trail that leads through a Douglas-fir forest from Alces Lake to the Home Basin campground – where a swimming beach area awaits.

There are backcountry camping facilities at Cave Creek Campground, which is accessible via boat or canoe from Packcrat Point or Home Basin.

The campground can also be reached by hiking in on the North Shore trail from the trailhead at the east end of Alces Lake or from the Home Basin Campground.

It’s also home to Lussier Hot Springs, which are typically open year-round and free to use. However, they’re currently closed due to high water levels in the Lussier River. So stay tuned for when they reopen!

In the meantime, the provincial park has tons of natural splendour and camping opportunities to tide you over.
