Did you hear, Toronto?

Toronto Tempo faces off against Indiana Fever aka Caitlin Clark is in the city

Caitlin Clark, one of the biggest stars in the WNBA, is in Toronto today. And funny enough, we only found out she was in the city because of a TikTok alongside teammates Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull, giving some love to Canadian snacks. But now, it’s game time.

Her team, the Indiana Fever, is taking on our beloved Toronto Tempo, and it’s expected to be a fan-packed game. So much so that the teams will face off at the Scotiabank Arena rather than home court at the Coca-Cola Coliseum. At this moment, tickets are just over $100 each in the 300s.

Get your tickets while you still can.

McDonald’s released some international faves

McDonald’s just revealed what’s in its massive yellow crate in downtown Toronto — and it’s seven new, international menu items. The World Menu Heist features eats from Australia, Spain, France, Japan, the Netherlands and Sweden. I had the chance to try them all (except for the McFlurry) before they were released, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a favourite. The Garlic and Black Pepper Chicken McNuggets are a game changer.

The full menu includes:

  • Chicken Parmi Burger – Australia
  • McExtreme Pulled Pork – Spain
  • Cheesy Bacon McFlavour Fries – France
  • Garlic and Black Pepper Chicken McNuggets – Japan
  • Stroopwafel McFlurry – Netherlands
  • Black Garlic sauce – Japan
  • Truffle Flavoured Mayo-style sauce – Sweden

It’s available now for a limited time.

There’s a $5 Gnocchi spot in Toronto for late-night eats

It’s 2 a.m., you’re leaving the bar, and you’re on the hunt for something to satisfy your cravings. Fast-food won’t hit the spot – you want something saucy, rich and full of flavour.

Thankfully, Via Gnocchi in the Bloor and Bathurst area is open til 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. And on top of that, they serve up a delicious bowl of gnocchi dressed in marinara sauce for only $5. Sprinkle on some cheese for an extra dollar. Grab a refreshing drink and tiramisu, and you have yourself a meal.

Toronto Zoo has a house hippo

There’s an adorable new addition at the Toronto Zoo, and it really makes you wish you had a house hippo. On Aug. 5, the zoo announced that its 20-year-old pygmy hippo, Kindia, had given birth to a female calf a few days earlier. It’s the pygmy hippo’s third calf to be born at the zoo.

It’s currently unnamed, but staff have been calling it “Tiny Tank.” She isn’t viewable to guests or members JUST YET, but keep an eye on their socials because she’s getting big, and fast!

Toronto’s oldest street festival is bigger this year

It’s set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, with over 125,000 visitors expected. We put together a what-to-know guide to help you navigate the festival if you plan to attend.

And that’s about all we have for you this week, Toronto. As always, we will keep you in the loop with what’s going on in your city!
