After years of waiting, prophesizing and replaying the game, the time has nearly come! One of the year’s most highly anticipated small-screen projects will premiere next week – but how can you watch The Last of Us in Canada without an HBOMax subscription?

Rumoured to be the most expensive series ever made, The Last of Us is an Alberta-shot drama that will follow Joel – a ‘hardened’ survivor, hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone 20 years after America is plagued by a zombie fungus.

Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (The Game of Thrones), the upcoming show looks chilling and for those who live in the Prairies – eerily familiar.

In addition, the show will also feature performances by Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate), Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant), Jeffrey Pierce (Bosche) and even Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as Bill a fellow survivor that maintains an uneasy alliance with our protagonists.

From behind-the-scenes photos and cast sightings to glowing reviews from industry insiders – those interested in the video game in which it was originally adapted, as well as HBO superfans, can finally see it for themselves when it hits Crave in Canada on Sunday, January 15th, 2023.

If, of course, you pay for an HBO Subscription via a local TV Provider you can also watch it live at 9:00 pm ET.

According to IMDB, each episode will run about 50 minutes – with the exception of the premiere which will be an hour and 25 minutes long – so pop some corn and prepare for a movie-length event.

As for the rest of the season? Look forward to 9 episodes in total – and hopefully, a season two to follow.

We’ve got our fingers crossed, Canada. Our expectations are high. Happy watching!
