Thrilling hikes and staycation hotspots, Canada has several enchanting destinations that are incredibly picturesque – but few are as beautiful as Waterton National Park in Alberta and its townsite.

Located in the southern part of the province, this scenic destination is known for its full forests, charming shops, and historic hotel.

Here visitors can explore exciting trails and admire the mountain vistas no matter the season—though it’s something extra special in the warmer months.

With several waterfalls, activities, and viewpoints, Waterton’s commitment to showcasing nature is evident when there’s a striking contrast between the blue water and lush green grass.

While it’s nearly impossible to choose the best and most beautiful places to go, paddling Lake Cameron, exploring Red Rock Canyon and taking the ‘Bear’s Hump’ to the top of Crandell Mountain is a must.

There is also an amazing golf course where you can get a few rounds in and learn a thing or two.

Opened in 1922, the historic Waterton Lakes Golf Course should be on every sports fan’s Alberta bucket list.

In addition, Waterton makes up half of the world’s first cross-border dark sky preserve so night owls will get to see the stars in all their glory.

Want to check it out? Waterton is less than 3 hours from Calgary, making it a perfect weekend trip or long trip – so pack your bags and head out.

You won’t regret it—especially if you’ve got a good camera.

Happy visiting and enjoy.
