When can you see the leaves change color in Washington? This map has the answer

While we’re all probably a little sad that summer is over, it’s always fun to welcome in a new season. Especially fall because it means we’re moving into the more cozy months. Not only that but we all get to watch as Washington changes from a lush green landscape to beautiful reds, oranges and browns.

But when exactly is that happening? Well, a handy map from the Smoky Mountains is here to help!

According to the interactive map, Washingtonians in King County and surrounding areas should be able to see fall colours now. Near October 2nd, the change of color should peak and be very evident and widespread. From October 9th onward, leaf colours will intensify and eventually fall from their trees.

Keep in mind, if you’re outside of King County, you might experience a more delayed display of fall foliage.

The map shows nationwide leaf patterns with a date range of September 5th-November 21st. So if you have family or friends living elsewhere in the nation that are equally as curious as you, this map is a great resource to share. Maybe you could even do some leaf swapping, try sending some pressed leaves from here in Washington over to wherever they are.

Enjoy the change of seasons Washington and happy fall!
