10 things to do in and around Calgary this long weekend (Oct. 9 to 12)

Thanksgiving weekend is almost here, and there is plenty happening around Calgary over the next few days to fill your time. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, we could also see some snow this weekend, but with so many fall activities on the calendar, there’s still lots to get out and enjoy.

To help you decide what to do, we’ve rounded up 10 things happening in and around Calgary this weekend, from fall markets and pumpkin festival to live theatre and a Thanksgiving dinner you don’t have to cook yourself.

Pumpkins After Dark

If you haven’t checked out Pumpkins After Dark yet, this weekend is a great time to go. The experience features thousands of hand-carved pumpkins, live carving, spooky mazes, and carnival games.

A Concrete Jungle Book

Storybook Theatre’s A Concrete Jungle Book puts a modern spin on the classic story and follows Mowgli as he navigates a city full of new challenges.

When: Friday, Oct. 9 to Monday, Oct. 12, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Where: The Storybook Theatre – 375 Bermuda Dr. NW, Calgary, Alta.

Calgary Wranglers vs Bakersfield Condors

Head over to the Saddledome to cheer on the Calgary Wranglers as they take on the Bakersfield Condors in an exciting matchup.

When: Friday, Oct. 9, 2026

Where: Scotiabank Saddledome — 555 Saddledome Rise SE, Calgary, Alta.

Gin, Jail, and Justice (18+)

Gin, Jail, and Justice is an adults-only event at the Confluence, where you’ll explore the stories of prisoners held there between 1875 and 1914. The night begins with specialty cocktails, then a twilight walking tour around the park.

Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Spark After Dark (18+): Paranormal Activities

TELUS Spark is hosting another Spark After Dark this Friday, and this one focuses on the paranormal. The adults-only night will feature drag performances, live music, science experiments, and séances.

Millarville Farmers’ Market

It’s the last weekend to visit the Millarville Farmers’ Market for the season. Head out on Saturday for one final day to browse local vendors and pick up fresh produce before it wraps up for the year.

How to Train Your Stitch!
