Despite the chilly weather, it’s never a bad time for a cone from Calgary’s Village Ice Cream. That just got a little easier, as the newest location of one of Calgary’s favourite treat shops is now open.
Over the years, Village has become a Calgary staple, with an ever-changing menu that keeps things interesting no matter how many times you grab a scoop. Sitting in Calgary’s hot new University District, this is the fifth Village in town and the first in Calgary’s northwest quadrant.

Village began a decade ago and has made it a point to become a pillar of each community it enters. The company’s website reads ‘wherever there [is] a Village Ice Cream, the surrounding neighbourhood [will] be alive with people walking, biking or rollerblading for ice cream and a good dose human connection’, and the new location should be no different.
In fact, the University District location had its grand opening on Saturday, January 8, and handed out an astounding 1600+ scoops according to the above Instagram post.
It’s been a big couple of years for U District, with tenants filling the new community with everything from upscale dining options to grab-and-go spots and plenty of other amenities.
