This popular Alberta spa is getting a new name and a major makeover

One of Alberta’s most popular Nordic spas is getting a major upgrade, with new saunas, cold-water experiences, and an expanded bathhouse. Kananaskis Nordic Spa is undergoing a major transformation this fall, with several new features already added to the grounds and more on the way. And as part of its next chapter, the spa is getting a new name and will reopen as Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis.

Here’s what’s changing and what to expect when the spa reopens later this month.

What to expect at Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis

What is Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis?

Located in the heart of Kananaskis, the spa is known for its hot pools, cold plunges, saunas, and, of course, gorgeous mountain views.

Now, the spa is getting a new name and several new amenities. As part of the changes, it will become Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis, marking a new chapter as it joins a growing collection of Nordic spas.

What can you find at Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis?

The spa offers a range of amenities to help you unwind, whether you’re looking to warm up in a sauna, cool off between sessions, or find a quiet space to relax.

Here are some of the features you can find throughout the spa:

  • Forest View Sauna
  • Cabin Sauna
  • Calm Cabin
  • Cold Cascades
  • Enhanced Elements Pool

What’s being added to Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis?

Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis is planning a new Elements Circuit, set to open in November. The new experience will feature a collection of pools and wellness amenities including:

  • Mountain View Hot Pool
  • Walk-Through Cold Pool
  • Infrared Sauna
  • Earth’s Heartbeat Sauna
  • Botanical Sauna
  • Two-Storey Calm Cabin
  • Red Light Therapy

What’s changing with the bathhouse?

The bathhouse will also get a makeover, featuring a redesigned lobby, refreshed locker rooms, additional showers, and more massage rooms. A new shop and grab-and-go station will also open, so you can pick up something quick during your visit.

When will the spa reopen to the public?

Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, following its temporary closure from Oct. 13 to 27 for construction. The new Elements Circuit is expected to open separately in November.

Construction will continue around the spa while it’s open, so noise levels may vary throughout the day and some facilities may be temporarily unavailable. According to Yora Nordic Spa Kananaskis, the spa may also close on days when construction noise becomes too disruptive. Check the official website for daily construction updates and noise-level forecasts before planning your visit.

So if you’ve been meaning to treat yourself to a little relaxation, a trip to Yoro Nordic Spa Kananaskis could be just what you need, especially with all the new additions to explore.
