Here’s what to know about Toronto’s “bigger and better” patio program returning this year

Remember the good old days of summer? The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and patio dining was at large. Back in those sunny days, Toronto introduced the CaféTO program. It was a way for all of us to enjoy our favourite restos while remaining as safe as possible from the spread of COVID-19.

Well, it looks like CaféTO has here to stay. The City of Toronto just announced that the popular patio dining initiative will be back “bigger and better” for 2021. We can’t wait for the day when we can hit up all our favourite spots for dining in-person. These adjustments to CaféTO will only make that easier.

So what changes does the city have in store? For starters, restaurants will be able to register for the program as early as February. The hope is to get as many spots involved as possible for Torontonians to enjoy. There will also be updated traffic regulations for safety while curb-side dining. Plus, quicker installations of extended patios and more accessible features.

All-in-all, it looks like we’ve got a great summer ahead. It may only be January, but we’re already dreaming about all the patio happy hours we’ve got in store.
