A barn near Calgary is transforming into a haunted house for three nights

Halloween is creeping up quickly, and if you’ve yet to make any plans, Cochrane has something new in store this year that you might want to check out. The Haunted Hayloft is taking over the Cochrane and District Agricultural District for three nights, transforming its indoor barn into a series of haunted rooms filled with live actors and plenty of jump scares.

If you’re thinking about checking it out, here’s a closer look at what you’ll find inside and what to know before you go.

What to expect at The Haunted Hayloft

What is The Haunted Hayloft?

According to organizers, The Haunted Hayloft is a walk-through haunted house where you can explore rooms like the Haunted Toybox, Clown Room, Slaughter Room, Cemetery, and the Haunted Dining Room.

Live scare actors will also be lurking throughout the experience, ready to jump out when you least expect it.

What is Sunset Hour?

Sunset Hour is a less-scary version of The Haunted Hayloft, which will run from 5 to 6 p.m. each night. During this time, the lights are bright, and there are no scare actors, so if you have younger kids or aren’t a big fan of jump scares, this is the best time to attend.

When is the event happening?

The Haunted Hayloft will run from Thursday, Oct. 29 to Oct. 31, just in time for Halloween. You can visit on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunset Hour runs nightly from 5 to 6 p.m., so arrive early if you want to avoid the jump scares.

Where is The Haunted Hayloft?

You’ll be able to find The Haunted Hayloft inside the barn at the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society grounds, which is located about 20 minutes northwest of Calgary.

The agricultural society’s grounds have a large parking lot, and free parking will be available during the event.

How much are tickets?

Tickets cost $11.85 for adults, $8.69 for children and seniors, or if you’re planning on bringing the whole family, you can snag a family of four pass for $32.89.

According to organizers, you must purchase your tickets in advance, as there won’t be any available at the door.

You can arrive anytime during the event hours on the night you book, but keep in mind that the capacity inside the barn is limited, so you may have to wait in line during busier periods.

So if you want to experience the first-ever Haunted Hayloft, Cochrane is where you’ll want to be this Halloween weekend.
