Toronto’s new stock exchange-inspired cocktail lounge will have live ticker boards

Now, this is a concept we haven’t seen before. A new food and cocktail lounge experience is opening in Toronto next week and it’s based on the stock exchange.

CKTL & Co., is a new food, drink, and “social exchange” lounge opening in the city this spring. Staying on theme, the lounge will open in none other than Toronto’s Financial District at 330 Bay Street.

Named after the ticker symbol for cocktail, the new establishment will feature a cocktail-forward drink menu with a strong beer and wine list, available on tap.

As for the food, it will “draw on international inspirations” and you can expect some delicious bar faves, too.

Here’s what makes this lounge stand out. Since it is a stock exchange cocktail lounge, “prices of items from appetizers to cocktails rise and fall with the interest of their fellow patrons (or “traders”) in real-time,” according to a press release.

In order to execute this concept, the lounge uses a software that’s designed to mimic the stock exchange and create a market pricing system.

You’ll see this system work via ticker boards that are located throughout the 4000-square-foot space. It will update the prices of food and drinks based on the current popularity.

The dining space sits about 95 people and its interior is described as being full of “rich textures and sleek finishes” for that luxurious vibe.

If you’re excited to check it out, according to its most recent Instagram post, they are now accepting reservations for its grand opening weekend starting April 28th.
