Nothing is more liberating than going for a nice stroll with no end in mind, enjoying your city and all it has to offer. But with all the hustle and bustle of a busy city, would you consider yours to be truly walkable? With tons of traffic and congested lanes, some cities in Canada are better for avid walkers compared to others. A new list is out that ranks cities based on whether or not they are the “most walkable in Canada”.
Canadian organization Evergreen, known for its work “facilitating change in communities through connection, innovation, and sustainable actions,” is behind the new ranking.
Using Walk Score and Pedestrians First to compile the ranking, Evergreen listed the top ten cities in Canada with a population of 200,000 or greater, for the most walkable.

Without further delay, here are the most walkable cities in Canada with a score out of 100:
According to Evergreen, Vancouver truly supports walkability after placing a strong emphasis on its development to cater to the walking crowd. Areas like Downtown Vancouver, West End, Fairview, and Mount Pleasant surpassed a score of 90, according to Redfin Vancouver.
As for Montreal, aka a “pedestrian’s paradise”, it comes in second. It features a number of streets that “prioritizes foot traffic, including those reserved exclusively for pedestrians, and shared streets where pedestrians have priority. ”
And we can’t forget about Toronto, the city with an extensive underground pedestrian walkway system that connects the downtown core. To read the full list, click here.
